On Lifshitz geometries and asymptotically Lifshitz black holes
Exact results for static and radiative fields of a quark in N=4 super Yang-Mills
We present the main results of 1106.5412 and 1202.5292. This includes both the computation of the expectation value of the N=4 SU(N) SYM Lagrangian density operator in the presence of an infinitely heavy static particle in the symmetric representation and that of the energy radiated by an inﬁnitely massive particle transforming in the symmetric or antisymmetric representation of the gauge group, and moving in the vacuum, to all orders in 1/N and for large ’t Hooft coupling. Both computations are carried out using the AdS/CFT correspondence. Next, we argue that the agreement between these two results go beyond the probe approximation, which leads us to propose an exact formula for the total energy loss by radiation of a heavy particle in the fundamental representation. Duality invariant field theories.
I will begin with a motivation and review of duality invariant field theories, in particular Double Field Theory (DFT), and put special emphasis in discussing their gauge symmetries and the constraints derived from them. I will then show that the constraints admit a class of solutions for which the theory is effectively described by lower dimensional gauged supergravities containing duality orbits of non-geometric fluxes. The talk is mostly based on arXiv:1109.0290, 1201.2924, 1203.6562 [hep-th], and work in progress.
